What does a Freelance Writer do?

Often, I am asked to clean up, strengthen or simply "make better" someone else's words.

In many instances I am not credited, which is fine as I am ghost writing without the white sheet and eye holes.

Here is an example:

This was the client's copy and the photo shows my words.

JEFFREY‘S GARDEN IS AN OASIS IN THE semi-arid climate of SAN ANTONIO. Walking into his garden in the Northwest side of the city feels like being transported into a private oasis in the middle of some distant and exotic land.
I spent a few hours visiting his private retreat, who is divided in several type of gardens, learning what motivates someone like Jeff to create such a unique outdoor space.

Jeff has an amazing collection of travel guides, garden books and is very meticulous about documentating his visits to dozens of Botanical Gardens throughout the United States. I was really impressed with his passion for his gardening, his creativity and knowledge about plants. Jeff is proud to have visited more than 150 Botanical Gardens and public gardens in the nation! 48 of which have specifically been Japanese Gardens.

Smashed for Good

Once I interviewed a repairer of guitars, banjos and lutes who recalled an unusual job he had been given: During a heated argument, a wife picked up her husband’s beloved acoustical guitar to deliberately swing it down against a counter. Dozens of splintered wooden pieces, twisted strings, bent bridge pins and a mangled fretboard were delivered to the shop.

Even with expert craftsmanship, repairing the instrument took several months. Upon completion the multiple cracks were filled in, but many still remained visible. What was most incredible about the restored guitar was not its altered appearance, but its new tone. It was sweeter and fuller than ever before

The Grass Fed Movement

Warm weather lures many of us outside after months of mainly living inside.

Gardens are planted, pools readied and eating options now include al fresco dining.

A favorite activity is barbequing.  Meat sizzling on a hot grill releases a seductive scent few can resist.

So, don’t.

Banishing beef and pork, lamb, chicken and even eggs from your diet is not a healthy move, according to many nutritional experts.  Your body is being deprived of vital nutrition. Unlike trans-fat, found in margarine, processed meats and fast foods, eating animal flesh supplies saturated fat rich in Vitamins, A, D and K.

Open wide, its good for you

Perhaps the words, “open up, this is good for you,” bring back childhood memories of cod liver oil slipping down your throat.

Whether you remember it fondly or with a shudder, you swallowed one of the world’s healthiest foods.

Cod liver oil provides necessary doses of Vitamins A and D. The latter vitamin is a key component to building strong bones in newborns and young children and maintaining them as we age.

For centuries, it bolstered health and well-being particularly in Northern European fishing villages from Scotland’s Shetland Islands to throughout Scandinavia. Then as now, winter weather is harsh and the sun’s seasonal appearance brief.

By the mid-18th century the oil’s healing properties were discovered to also benefit those afflicted with rheumatism. Advocates grew to include people with chronic dry skin, brittle nails and hair.

Throughout the 19th century and up until the mid-20th, millions of bottles of cod liver oil were consumed in pursuit of good health.

So what happened?

Youth Building with Dr. Howard Murad

Your reflection mirrors your shock and dismay.

When did those wrinkles around your eyes deepen, and is that your grandmother’s papery thin neck skin developing under your chin?

Some might feel the advancement of years equals never-ending physical decay.  But instead of resigning yourself to wearing sunglasses and turtlenecks forever – try instead “youth building” through Inclusive Health®.

Our friend and famed dermatologist, Howard Murad, M.D., F.A.A.D., discovered that the aging process causes cell membranes to lose elasticity and release vital intracellular moisture. That moisture is the base for a robust body as demonstrated through firmer skin, healthy hearts and even lush hair.

Your commute home was a bumper-to-bumper crawl or cheek to cheek with strangers, some without an intimate relationship with deodorant.

Expanding your Fruit and Veg Appreciation

www.fit-journey.com
Your healthy battle against obesity will benefit from eating a variety of fruits and vegetables.

A key to maintaining your fitness diet is keeping the food interesting. Carrots, celery and iceberg lettuce are fine, but dull.

Now is the time to become an explorer

Discover some new sources of vitamins and minerals by strolling through a farmer’s market, or a store particularly one with Asian and Hispanic produce.

If they are unusual looking to you, banish your shyness and eagerly ask, “What is this and how do I eat it?”

Your taste buds and shrinking waistline will appreciate your curiosity.

The Joys of Joining a CSA

River Dog Farms, Guinda CA
Bite into a succulent strawberry or nibble on a steamed asparagus spear to appreciate how fruits and vegetables are delicious ways to lose weight.

As you decrease chomping down on unhealthy foods, your palate becomes more refined and robust.

You now desire produce full of the freshest tastes. No longer do you want to eat raw spinach or raspberries and get a mouthful of chemical additives, required for the long transportation – often from foreign countries.

You want to taste the multiple weeks’ worth of bright sunshine that ripened a tomato – not bland red glop.

Calorie Loss While Commuting

www.fit-journey.com
Whether driving a car or as a strap hanger on a bus or in a subway, grab some exercise while getting to your destination.

If you’re driving, however, be sure to ONLY do these exercises while stopped and not while driving.

Additional activity can mean the difference of a few more pounds lost or getting off a stubborn weight loss plateau.

This does not mean breaking into an aerobic routine on a subway platform or at a bus stop. Just take advantage of the extra time with the following exercises.
